The Porsche museum is sending its classic cars to the Mille Miglia

The Museum on Wheels is on the road in Italy from 17 to 20 May 2012

Stuttgart.The legends are under starter’s orders: from 17 to 20 May 2012, the Porsche Museum will be covering the legendary thousand miles of the Mille Miglia with its impressive starting field to date. The famous endurance road race will be contested by two Porsche 550 Spyder, 356 Speedster 1500, 356 Speedster 1600, 356 Speedster 1600 S and 356 Coupé with V-shaped front windscreen, the so-called “Knickscheibe” (bent windscreen). The contest follows the course of the most beautiful roads from Brescia to Rome and back and is among the most important events in the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, calendar. The Mille Miglia remains a challenge for vehicles and drivers to this day because the 1,600 kilometre course is covered in only three days and typically traverses different weather zones. Read more

Porsche SE reports substantial profit in Q1 2012

Good development of the Porsche and Volkswagen investments

Stuttgart, 7 May 2012. In the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2012, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (Porsche SE), Stuttgart, reported a profit after tax of 327 million euro at group level. The profit was primarily attributable to the good development of Porsche SE’s two investments in the Volkswagen group and the Porsche Zwischenholding GmbH group. The profit from investments accounted for at equity amounted to 1.169 billion euro for the period from 1 January to 31 March 2012. This was counterbalanced in particular by a non-cash special effect recognized as an expense from the adjustment of the valuation of the put and call options for the shares in Porsche Zwischenholding GmbH remaining with Porsche SE totaling minus 810 million euro. Production up twofold, employee numbers up threefold, increase in vehicle output by orders of magnitude: since production began in 2002, Porsche Leipzig has developed into one of the most successful automotive factories. To mark the plant’s tenth anniversary, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra will tomorrow be performing a concert for violin and orchestra by Dimitri Shostakovich as well as the Third Symphony by Johannes Brahms conducted by Riccardo Chailly. Anatole Lapine passes

Former Porsche chief designer dies aged 81

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is mourning it’s chief designer of many years, Anatole Carl Lapine, who died on 29 April 2012 in Baden-Baden. Lapine headed up the Style Porsche design studio from 1969 to 1988. Michael Mauer, Porsche’s chief designer since 2004, paid homage to the deceased: “Anatole Lapine shaped Porsche sports car design over more than two decades. As a designer he didn’t follow fashion but was forever setting new trends with his concepts.” Read more

Stuttgart.For six decades, the history of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has been inseparably associated with the worldwide enthusiasm of the Porsche Club scene. 60 years ago, on 26 May 1952, seven passionate Porsche drivers founded the Porsche Club Hohensyburg in Westphalia. According to its articles of association, the common goal of this first club was to “unite all Porsche drivers in friendship and comradeship”. The creation of this first club was the foundation stone for a long and unique success story that has become a global phenomenon. Read more
