Internet Auto Award for Porsche’s Gran Turismo

Stuttgart. The Porsche Panamera has won the Internet Auto Award in the higher and luxury class. Users of Internet portal AutoScout24 gave pride of place to the Gran Turismo for the second time since 2010.

Dr. Gernot Döllner, Director Product Line Panamera, accepted the evening award on behalf of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. World premiere of the new Boxster and two European premieres

Porsche at the Geneva Motor Show 2012

Stuttgart. At the beginning of March, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, will be presenting one world premiere and two European premieres at the Geneva Motor Show. The new generation of the Boxster will make its debut in front of an international public at the Porsche press conference on 6 March at 09:30 a.m. (MEZ) in Hall 1. The conference will be broadcast live via internet (www.porsche.com/geneva) and via satellite. As European premieres Porsche will show the Panamera GTS and 911 Carrera Cabriolet too. Read more

Six finalists shine at young driver selection

The selection process to find Porsche juniors for the 2012 season is now on the finish straight. At track tests in Vallelunga (Italy) six finalists aged from 18 to 21 years excelled with outstanding lap times and showed impressive progress over the two days. Klaus Bachler (20, A), Tom Blomqvist (18, GB), Michael Christensen (21, DK), Mario Farnbacher (19, D), Ramon Pineiro (21, E) and Dennis Trebing (20, USA) had earlier come out on top at a rigorous selection process against other talented youngsters from around the globe. Porsche reworks headlight locking system

Quality measure for Cayenne models

Stuttgart. The headlight locking system on current 2011 and 2012 Cayenne models is being reworked.

In-house quality investigations revealed that in rare cases an incorrectly locked headlight module can become detached.

Approximately 100,000 units of the Cayenne model line are being reworked. Letters are being sent to owners of the affected vehicles; the workshop job takes approximately 45 minutes and is free of charge for the customer.

Name for new Porsche SUV is Macan

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart’s new sports car in the SUV segment has been given the name Macan. The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and combines suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics – core characteristics of the new off-road car.

“The Macan combines all sports car characteristics with the benefits of a SUV and is a genuine Porsche”, said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG. “The name of a new Porsche has to fit with the brand, sound good in very many languages and dialects and evoke positive associations.” Read more
