It seems nearly impossible to believe, but 2015 is already kicking into high gear; January is (almost) gone and February will be upon us in no time. We here at Lüfteknic have been busy trying to finalize our plans for 2015, and are very excited to share them with you.
As many know, the Hershey Swap Meet, occurring this year on Saturday April 18th, 2015, is an event not to be missed. As the largest of its kind in the States and possibly the world, this Porsche-only swap meet is unlike anything else for Porsche fans. Whether looking for an obscure or hard to find part, complete Porsche car, performance parts and everything in between, the Hershey Swap Meet nearly always delivers. Lüfteknic will again be on hand with a booth showcasing our latest shop projects, including the Porsche Bus, #Projectstuka and our new 2014 991 GT3 development vehicle. As a rule the weather can be unpredictable and it tends to be windy, so be sure to dress or pack accordingly. If you decide to make the journey to central Pennsylvania be sure to stop by and say hello! We look forward to seeing some of you there. For more information check out the Central PA PCA region’s website, who hosts Hershey swap meet each year.
Fast forward to June and Saturday the 6th, and the next ‘officially’ attended event for Lufteknic, the Richmond Porsche Meet. RPM, hosted by the Shenandoah Region PCA, features a concours event on Saturday, plus lunch at the “Cafe Carrera,” a driving tour, a tech session, and a banquet, followed by an autocross on Sunday at the Southside Speedway. Lüfteknic will have a booth at RPM on Saturday, again with a selection of shop vehicles, but as always for our more local shows we hope to have some customer vehicles of note on hand as well. Being in our own backyard, we’re always happy to see new and old customers alike, and as RPM has grown it has surely become a must-do for any Richmond area Porschephile. Go to the Shenandoah PCA site for more info on the Richmond Porsche Meet, as well as other local PCA events.
July takes us back up to Pennsylvania and a new for 2015 event for us, and reportedly one we’ve been missing out on from what some of you have been telling us, Deutsch Classic. Scheduled for Saturday July 11th in Reading, PA, this rain or shine car show and swap meet should feature some great Porsches from one of the more historically-rich areas of the world when it comes to the Stuttgart marque. Obviously being all-German we’d expect to see some show cars from Mercedes Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi and probably some other more obscure and unique brands as well. The website is www.deutscheclassic.com, the event is worth checking out.
Fast forward through the dog-days of Summer and the ever-better always-growing Classics on the Green, held once again at the beautiful New Kent Winery. We’ve been attending Classics on the Green, as many of you have, for some time, and as an event and general relaxed good time for car enthusiasts, and much like a fine wine it has simply gotten better with age. (The writer has been chastised and punished accordingly for such a blatantly obvious pun, and I assure you it won’t happen again – Editor) It’s safe to say that many of you have been to Classics either at New Kent, or at the old location on Brown’s island, but if for some reason you haven’t you should make 2015 the year. Classics on the Green is scheduled to take place on Sunday September 20th. Find out more at the official Classics on the Green site.
Just one week after Classics we have the Porsche Rennsport Reunion V, over the weekend of September 25th-27th. This is a big one for us as we’re pushing to enter our 2003 996 911 GT3RS in as-ran livery from when it competed professionally in the ALMS in 2003. Additionally the event is in being held at beautiful Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey California, and will feature the most significant and interesting racing Porsches in history, as seen at previous Rennsport Reunions. It’s months away, but will be here before we know it, and for customers who are considering attending we’d highly recommend doing so. The Rennsport Reunion is a one-of-a-kind event, and the chance to see so many of these great cars in the flesh, and often on track, is an opportunity not to be missed.
We are in the planning stages, but the possibility of a cross-country customer drive is still being considered. It won’t be for the faint of heart or any easily road-weary souls, but we know we have some die-hard customers who are likely up for the challenge. If this is something you are interested in, email us directly – info@lufteknic.com. We can’t promise this is going to happen, but depending on interest and logistics of participating in the event, we will certainly do our part.
Lastly, the 2015 Annual Lüfteknic Holiday Party is scheduled for Friday December 11th. We wanted to thank each and everyone who stopped by and shared a moment with us at this past year’s party; it was fantastic to see a lot of familiar faces as well as several new ones. The ever-larger Lüfteknic family always makes us proud, and we thank you for your business and support over the coming years.
Amongst all of the official dates listed below, it is likely that we’ll continue to make occasional and random appearances at our regional ‘Cars and Coffee‘ event, held bi-weekly from 8-10am at Boychiks (Innsbrook), 4024 Cox Road, Glen Allen, VA 23060. Find out more at www.carsandcoffeerichmond.com.
