Hans Herrmann inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame

Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is delighted to announce that a special accolade has been awarded to one of its most successful works drivers. Hans Herrmann, born in 1928, was inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame on 16 March 2012. This prestigious award from the organizers of the famous American racing circuit was announced in the run-up to this year’s 12 Hours of Sebring, which was held for the sixtieth time in 2012. Also inducted to the Sebring Hall of Fame were the American racing legends Geoff Brabham, Denise McCluggage, Johnny O’Connell and Jim Downing. Read more

Klaus Bachler and Michael Christensen are the new Porsche Juniors

The decision is made: Austria’s Klaus Bachler (20) and Michael Christensen (21) from Denmark are the new Porsche Juniors. The two talented youngsters, who have already notched up creditable successes in karting and diverse Formula racing series, will contest the 2012 season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Porsche provides a large part of the season’s budget and also coaches the juniors off the race track. Read more

Six finalists shine at young driver selection

The selection process to find Porsche juniors for the 2012 season is now on the finish straight. At track tests in Vallelunga (Italy) six finalists aged from 18 to 21 years excelled with outstanding lap times and showed impressive progress over the two days. Klaus Bachler (20, A), Tom Blomqvist (18, GB), Michael Christensen (21, DK), Mario Farnbacher (19, D), Ramon Pineiro (21, E) and Dennis Trebing (20, USA) had earlier come out on top at a rigorous selection process against other talented youngsters from around the globe. Porsche launches new junior programme in motorsport from 2012

With an international youth development programme, Porsche continues to expand its racing involvement. From the 2012 season on, initially two young drivers will receive support as Porsche Juniors for their Carrera Cup Deutschland campaign. Porsche provides them with a large portion of the season’s budget. The young pilots will choose a team themselves. A Junior coach assists them with their training away from the circuits and is available for mentoring at the race tracks. Initially, the programme runs over four years. Read more
